You have probably heard or said at least once, “there are no seasons in Florida.” The truth is there are seasons, and sometimes all in the same day! From May through October it is not uncommon to have a brilliant bright sunny day that ends in a mini monsoon. If you have lived for any length of time in Tampa, you might even welcome the rains at this time because the temperatures suddenly dip and it can be a refreshing respite from the heat.
For those days when the sun is glaring down and the summer temperatures soar, there are activities you can do to enjoy to escape the office with your team in Tampa. Here are a few summer activities that you might consider:
- 1. Ice Cream – Nothing says summer like sitting in the fresh air having a soft serve dipped ice cream cone at Bo’s, the iconic ice cream spot at 7101 N. Florida Ave. in Seminole Heights. Need a sweet way to say ‘thank you’ for a job well done for your team? They have served ice cream delicacies for 62 years! This place will take you back to skater skirts and “Happy Days”. They are even open from 11:00AM to 11:00 PM!
- 2. Catch the sunset after work (or any other time for that matter) can be relaxing and restorative. Two local beaches that have easy access and may even help you beat the afternoon traffic are: Ben T. Davis Beach on Causeway Blvd. and Cypress Point Park in South Tampa. Consider picking up a picnic dinner in route or order from Cater Me Fit and they deliver your meal ready to eat as you relax and take in the scenery.
- 3. Outdoor Adventures – Can you Canoe? Maybe you prefer kayaking. Take advantage of the activities that are available for nominal fees at The Hillsborough State Park. Want to take the entire team for some fun in the sun without having to plan? Check out iTrekkers. who specialize in organizing and guiding experiences (they even bring and setup the equipment) like canoeing, camping, fishing and a whole lot more.
- 4. Catch a concert! If you’re looking for a special event to celebrate a milestone, sales goal or just want to have a good time, there are many great concerts coming up this summer in Tampa, even some double and triple header bookings. You might want to see Rod Stewart & Cyndi Lauper at the Amalie Arena in Tampa July 8th, or Chicago, The Band & The Doobie Brothers all together on June 29th at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Feeling like a romantic evening? Try Lionel Richie with Mariah Carey, August 11th at the Amalie Arena, or some “Gravity” with John Mayer August 13th also at the Amalie Arena. If none of these are appealing to you, there are so many more! Just click here for details.
Summer time heat might be a challenge at times but Tampa summer is also an opportunity to enjoy the skies, beach and outdoor activities that make Tampa so appealing. Fortunately, the office is never too far from some work fun, activity and fresh air.
